Azoospermia—a complete lack of sperm in the ejaculate—occurs in about 1% of all men and 10–15% of the infertile men. The cost of azoospermia treatment at Mannat Fertility Centre, Bangalore, begins at 10,000 INR and involves surgical sperm retrieval (TESA/MESA), hormonal medication and ICSI-IVF as necessary. Obstructive as well as non-obstructive azoospermia are treatable, and the majority of men with azoospermia can have biological fatherhood by the correct intervention.

What is Azoospermia?

Azoospermia is a condition where no sperm are present in the ejaculate, preventing natural conception. The medical condition has two main categories that differentiate it.

  • Obstructive Azoospermia – A physical hindrance of the reproductive tract to allow the release of sperm to be emitted during ejaculation.
  • Non-Obstructive Azoospermia – the testes are able to produce minimal or no sperm because of hormonal disproportion, genetic disorders or because of damage to the testicles.

The treatment planning process requires information about which type of azoospermia affects the patient along with determining their root causes.
