At 15 weeks, you are in the second trimester, which is usually considered the most comfortable time of pregnancy. More energy is normal and most women say that their morning sickness subsides. The growing baby bump can lead to round ligament pain and stretching sensation underneath your belly. More blood flow can make your skin look healthy and many women notice changes like darker nipples or the appearance of a linea nigra (a dark line on the belly).
Although hormonal changes may still throw your emotions out of whack, many women claim to be more emotionally balanced at this stage. Sometimes, increased blood flow during pregnancy can cause a stuffy nose or pregnancy rhinitis. Pregnancy is a good time to start light prenatal exercise, such as walking, swimming or prenatal yoga.
At 15 weeks, your baby is about 4 inches long and weighs about 2.5 ounces – about the size of an apple. This week, your baby’s body is growing rapidly, and longer legs than arms mean their movements are becoming more obvious. You won’t be able to notice kicking yet, but your baby is moving – trying out breathing movements and the occasional hiccupps.
The outlines of their face are becoming clearer, but their skin is still thin enough to be semi-transparent. You may see some hair on your baby’s head and on the eyebrows. Your baby’s sensors are developing very fast at this stage. they can hear soft noises from your surroundings. Taste buds are forming in your baby this week and they are smelling flavor signals from the amniotic fluid.
Hydrate first, nourish yourself well, and enjoy these wonderful weeks of pregnancy!
