By week 9 of your pregnancy you will be in the final month of the first trimester. As your body adjusts to support your baby, hormonal changes may cause side effects such as nausea, fatigue and emotional roller coasters. The worst morning sickness may happen at this stage, and some women may have a wave of food aversions or sudden cravings. You might have bloating as well as the growth of your uterus even if your abdomen is not yet visible.
Skin changes may include a pregnancy glow or breakouts due to hormonal changes. If you haven’t scheduled your first prenatal appointment yet, it’s a wonderful time to make an appointment and monitor your baby’s growth and answer any questions you may have.
By 9 weeks, your baby is as long and heavy as a cherry, measuring 0.9 inches and almost 0.07 ounces. Your baby is already going through important development even at this early stage of fetal growth. You can now see the formation of fingers and toes, and the heart is complete, ticking away at 150 to 170 beats per minute. The nose, lips and eyelids are becoming more identifiable and earlobes are developing as well.
Within your baby the liver and kidneys are preparing to do their important job. The embryonic tail is almost gone, and as muscles grow, little movements are possible – but you’re not likely to feel them now.
