You’re at week 32 which is the last part of your pregnancy. At this point, your bump is easily noticeable, and you may feel more tired because of the body’s attempts to sustain the growth of your baby. It is normal to feel short of breath, heartburn and backache as your expanding belly presses on your body. The strength of Braxton Hicks contractions may become stronger, preparing your body for the future labor process. The arrangement of pillows strategically can help in obtaining restful sleep as your pregnancy advances. Continue to drink your liquids, eat healthy meals, and take rest at intervals during the day. Continuous prenatal visits will monitor your baby’s position and overall health as you await the coming weeks.
Your baby has put on weight to about 3.5 to 4 pounds and has grown to measure about 16 to 17 inches in length, which is similar to the size of a cantaloupe. Fat accumulation is softening their skin and this helps in regulating their body temperature after birth. The baby is testing out breathing motions, which makes some of their kicks seem stronger. The development of brain and nervous system maturation is enhancing reflexes such as sucking and swallowing. If your baby were born at this stage, he or she would need some medical help but is likely to do well. With less space in the womb now, your baby’s movements may change, but you should still be able to detect regular movement. Keep an eye out for changes in kicking patterns and contact your doctor if something appears off.
