Your Baby –
- It’s time to go out.
You –
- It’s time to talk to the doctor and be ready for the moment.
Time is already up. Only 10% of babies stay under the womb till their last week. Predicting the date of birth is not easy. A pregnancy cannot be overdue until after week 42. The fetus is grown up fully and is ready to exit the womb safely. You must have active labor by now. If not, there is a reason to worry. The abdomen is stretched so much and you may have forgotten what your feet look like. You may start visiting the doctor’s office bi-weekly at this point. If pregnancy crosses this week, C-section or induction may be the option. The placenta works only until 40 to 41 weeks.
From now on, your doctor will keep proper attention towards your health. After 40 weeks, all bets are off and preeclampsia symptoms may show up quickly. After 40 weeks, your baby is also at a higher risk of having bowel movement in the uterus itself. If the fluid is laced with amniotic fluid, the baby starts inhaling it and pneumonia and infection may occur.
