The Baby –
- Keeps getting fatter and longer. His/her weight has doubled over the past month.
- S/he weighs around 2.5 pounds now which might be a bit scary as the baby clearly has to gain even more weight before he/she gets fully matured.
You –
- You are either feeling that 12 weeks are too short to prepare for everything or pregnancy will go forever. You might be feeling both ways one minute to next.
- Might be folding clothes, moving furniture and organizing things and getting rid of stains and doing a lot of other tasks before the baby arrives.
The 28th gestation week marks the beginning of 3rd trimester and 7th month. Your baby has 90% chance of survival if s/he is born this week. Her/his lungs can breathe. However, some development is still required to function well out of the womb. This week, body fat rises 2% to 3%. The fetus can weigh over 2 pounds by the end of the week. Women who are expecting multiples usually have smaller babies. It doesn’t mean they develop slowly. They also have a 90% chance of surviving in the 28th week. Fatigue, leg cramps, fluid retention and pains are common till the end of gestation.
